Fategarh Ram Temple, widely known as the Ayodhya of Odisha, is situated near Fatehgarh village in the Bhapur block of Nayagarh district. It is approximately 65 km from Bhubaneswar and 40 km from Nayagarh, making it perfect for a one-day trip.
Dedicated to Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, and Lord Lakshman, the temple stands on a scenic hilltop surrounded by nature. Furthermore, the temple gained statewide attention after its grand inauguration on 22 January 2024, coinciding with the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha.
According to local belief, the hill was once home to a sacred Bhagabata Pitha. Villagers worshipped Lord Govardhan here, praying for rainfall and prosperity. Interestingly, during the 1912 Nabakalabara festival, a neem tree from this forest was selected for crafting Lord Sudarshan’s idol, linking the site spiritually with Lord Jagannath traditions.
Years later, Chakradhar Pradhan of Fategarh village took the initiative to build the Ram Temple. With strong community support, construction began in 2017. Around 150 workers contributed, and donations exceeding ₹10 crores helped complete the temple with dedication and devotion.
The temple reflects classic Odishan architectural excellence and closely resembles the Maa Tara Tarini Temple of Ganjam. Built entirely from Baulamala stone, the structure is both elegant and durable.
Key highlights include:
In addition to the main shrine, the temple complex houses deities like Lord Hanuman, Lord Ganesha, Lord Surya Narayan, and Lord Chandrasekhar, enhancing its spiritual depth.
Visitors can either drive up the hill or walk the final stretch while enjoying scenic surroundings.
